Proverbs 21:1 says,

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”

What we need to ask is what is the Lord doing? Why is He bringing such judgments upon this nation? The Almighty is graciously waiting for “WE THE PEOPLE” to return unto our Christian Heritage, to serve Him instead of our own human reasoning! He says,

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,” 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Our loving Heavenly Father says in Deuteronomy 28:1-2,

“And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God,”.

Among all the blessings God promises unto those who are willing to serve Him with all their heart that are named in verses 1-14 He promises a prospering economy in Verse 12,

“The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.”

ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS PRINCIPLE

However, the Lord cautions us in Verse 15-68,

“But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:”

One of those curses is a failed economy as we have today as we see in verse 43-44,

“The stranger that is within thee shall . . . lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

WHAT IS THE SIN THAT WE MUST REPENT OF?

Professed Christians are constantly preaching against homosexuality as though this is the sin of the nation that God has forsaken us for, however nothing is farther from true!!!

Ezekiel 16:49 says, “Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.”

These are certainly the sins of “WE THE PEOPLE” that are bringing God’s curses upon us as a nation. Who among us can plead innocent in these days of entertainment and luxury?

This is the same complaint the Lord has against us in Romans 1:25,

“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

It is for this cause that we are left over unto the Judgments listed in verses 26-32. Verse 28 says,

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind,[i.e., a mind void of good judgment] to do those things which are not convenient;”

Exodus 20:5 says, “. . . I the LORD thy God am a jealous God . . .” When we worship and serve the creature more than the Creator we are stealing the honor Christ received for His humble obedience unto death, even the death of the cross.

Philippians 2:8-11 “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

When “WE THE PEOPLE” have a tendency to look down on homosexuals we need to understand what the WORD OF GOD says in Romans 2:1,

“Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.”

What are these “same things” spoken of here?worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator”!!!

Verses 3-4 says “And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

If “WE THE PEOPLE” refuse to repent and turn unto the Lord our God we need to ponder the truth as pointed out by William Safire, a nationally syndicated columnist, in his column in the Great Falls Tribune, January 5 1987, “Atheistic Communism has proved a total failure.” Safire states in his article titled:

God Replaces the Vodka Bottle:

“In the Soviet Union where Communism turned out to be the God that failed to put bread on the table, booze is the pervasive opiate of the people, used to cope with pain of living in a world of constant constraint.”

Safire quotes our former President Dwight Eisenhower as saying in 1950:

“hundreds of millions behind the Iron Curtain are daily drilled in the slogan: ‘There is no God, and religion is an opiate.’ But not all the people within the Soviet Union accept this fallacy; and some day they will educate their rulers, or change them.”

 William Safire pointed out how:

“The education of Moscow’s atheists is under way. It seems that the prediction of Eisenhower is now coming true [he also pointed out how] God has quickened the conscience of the people in the Soviet Union.”

Safire says:

“One novelist questions the morality of his hero’s opponents from a frankly Christian standpoint; another writer claims that the present‑day strength of many Russians is still based on the Old and New Testament precepts: the third asks, “Who blew out the lamp of our conscience?” and remembers the time “there was a light in our soul,” charging it was “stolen from us and nothing was given in its stead.”

Then Safire goes on to show how that:

“The very foundation of our Constitution and our Nation itself was based on these Old and New Testament precepts.”

Safire states:

“The religious spirit, not some class struggling, brought forth Mosaic moral commandments and nurtured mankind’s ethical sense. The stern Calvinists enshrined the “work ethic” underlying capitalism, which helped produce the shared prosperity that the world’s largest atheistic society so bitterly envies.”

It was in search for this religious liberty that brought our pilgrim forefathers to this nation. “In God We Trust” is written on every piece of American money, as well as engraved in the stone wall over the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in our national’s capital.

So whereas our Constitution and our nation are built on so firm a foundation, which our judiciary is destroying by removing the very Standard of Justice upon which our nation is founded, are we going to allow our atheistic judicial branch to “blow out the lamp of our conscience?” as Safire said happened in the atheistic reign of communism.

Left unbridled by the checks and balances provided for in the Constitution, our judicial branch is removing that firm foundation upon which our nation was built.
